Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau’s executive director of conventions, meetings and incentive travel, Jeannie Lim, has been elected to the role of board chair for the BestCities Global Alliance.
Taking over from Jonas Wilstrup of Copenhagen, Lim will continue to grow the alliance, which represents 12 convention bureaus across the globe.
With more than seven years’ experience at SECB, she will bring a wealth of industry knowledge, understanding and leadership to the role. Gearing up for the new role, Lim said: “I am honoured to take up the appointment of Board Chair on behalf of the Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau.
“The BestCities Global Alliance has been instrumental in shaping important strategies and best practices on how partners can best evolve and transform, to keep up with shifting trends in the meetings industry and create impactful delegate experiences. Through its established network, the Alliance has also profiled the strengths of its members to association meeting planners.”
As head of the conventions, meetings and incentive travel division of SECB, Lim spearheads plans to attract quality associations and corporate events to Singapore and steps into the role of board chair as the alliance prepares for its third annual BestCities Global Forum, set to take place in Bogotá this December.
The BestCities board includes senior representatives from Berlin, Bogotá, Cape Town, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Dubai, Houston, Madrid, Melbourne, Tokyo, and Vancouver.
BestCities Global Alliance managing director, Paul Vallee, added: “Looking ahead to the next two years, there are many amazing opportunities in the calendar where Jeannie will play a key part. With her superb experience at the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau, we’re excited to see what Jeannie will bring to the role and the prospective advancements she may make for the alliance.”
