A new multi-purpose convention centre is set to open in Guangzhou, the capital of China’s Guangdong province, in 2020.
Located in the historical Canton fair district, the Guangzhou International Convention Center features two 2,500-sqm exhibition halls, a 505-seat amphitheatre and 47 modular meeting rooms with the capacity for 50 to 800 people.
Easily accessible from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, China’s third busiest airport, the venue is designed to accommodate up to 2,600 people for congresses and conventions.
GL events, a global player in event industry and Yuexiu Group, a public real estate company of China, have signed a joint venture agreement to jointly operate the venue, which was officially launched at IMEX Frankfurt earlier this month (May).
The venue’s official launch at IMEX marked the first step in GL Events’ marketing and branding strategy, which the group will implement alongside the city of Guangzhou, to attract international events to the major port and transportation hub.
