New president & CEO Jae-sung Rhee will lead the organisation as it is relaunched as a fully government-funded entity.
Former executive vice president of the Korea Tourism Organization, Jae-sung Rhee, has been appointed as the first president and CEO of the Seoul Tourism Organization (STO).
Rhee officially joined STO in April, 2018, a week before the organization was restructured from a public-private partnership and government-invested corporation into a fully government-funded foundation. Now funded by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Seoul Tourism Organization has been re-established to proactively respond to rapidly changing tourism and MICE markets and boost the city’s competitiveness through the revitalisation of tourism-related industries.
Prior to joining STO, Rhee worked at the Korea Tourism Organization for 33 years (from 1985 to 2017) and held the position of director in every department within the organization. With his hands-on experience and expertise, Rhee is regarded as an expert in the field of tourism.
Rhee graduated from the Department of Spanish at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and also received a doctorate from Kyung Hee University’s Graduate School of Tourism.
