New Far East project to boost event inventory on Sentosa

Three hotels slated to open in 2019 will add event space and more than 800 rooms to Singapore’s resort island.

Far East Hospitality announced at ITB Asia last week that it will open three new hotels on the island resort. The Village Hotel and The Outpost Hotel will officially open in April 2019, with a soft launch on 19 February. The 40-key Barracks Hotel is scheduled to open in August 2019, while a dedicated events centre is also set to open next year.

Village Hotel at Sentosa is set to be the group’s flagship property, offering one of Sentosa’s largest room inventories. It adds 606 keys to the island’s mid-tier accommodation options, a gap that Far East is filling on an island where approximately 90 per cent of accommodation is in the five-star/luxury category.

Village Hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, The Commune, will also act as its meetings and events space, with capacity to host up to 480 people for cocktail functions.

While amenities at the Village Hotel are family-oriented, The Outpost Hotel targets adults. Far East Hospitality’s chief executive officer, Arthur Kiong, says: “The hotel experience is built for guests who prefer exclusivity and appreciate the attention to detail.”

Its 193 stylish guest rooms feature chic and bold aesthetics, while the rooftop pool and bar, which overlooks the South China Sea, is open for cocktail events and intimate celebrations. Because of its proximity to the Wings of Time attraction, guests will be able to enjoy pyrotechnics every evening.

The Barracks Hotel, rich in heritage and history, serves as a window to the island’s past. Housed in a restored colonial building, the exclusive hotel promises old-school luxury and timeless charm.

All three hotels are located two minutes from Imbiah monorail station, 10 minutes from Singapore’s Cable Car Sky Network, and a walk away from Universal Studios Singapore, the beach, and the Sentosa Merlion, making logistics simpler for incentive travel groups.
