Gold Coast sharpens focus on Asia with new hire

In a newly created role, Fion Huang will be responsible for securing new conference and incentive business.

Destination Gold Coast has appointed Fion Huang to the newly created position of Senior Business Development Manager – Asia.

Huang will be responsible for securing new conference and incentive business for the Gold Coast, working with corporate and incentive clients within Greater China and Southeast Asia.

Huang joins the business events team with more than seven years’ experience in business development, marketing and communication roles in China. Prior to her relocation to the Gold Coast, she worked in similar positions for a number of international hotels in China, most recently with the Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai and Park Hyatt Shanghai.

In her new role, Huang will be regularly in-market and responsible for initiating representation at international trade shows, sales missions, familiarisation programmes and other key marketing activities in China and Southeast Asia.

Destination Gold Coast executive director of business events, Anna Case said the new position was created in recognition of these important markets for the Gold Coast, and in response to growth, particularly in the incentive market.

“Fion brings with her a wealth of experience, enthusiasm, and industry connections, and is looking forward to working within this growing market segment,” she says.
