The country’s largest trade show for incentive and meeting professionals gears up for 20th year.
The 20th edition of the Korea MICE Expo (KME), the nation’s largest trade show for incentive and meeting professionals, is set to take place next month (12-14 June) at Songdo ConvensiA, Incheon (pictured).
The event is expected to attract more than 3,000 industry professionals to meet with 300 local service providers, including convention bureaus, venues, and travel agencies. Local food specialties will be showcased during the event, while buyers will have the opportunity to take part in pre and post tours.
Director of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Meetings & Incentives team, Namchun Kim, says: “This year has significance because it is KME’s 20th Anniversary. We hope this will serve as a new beginning, marking KME’s first step in expanding beyond Korea to become an exhibition of global scale in the next 20 years.”
This year’s theme is ‘Green MICE’, showcasing the latest sustainable, eco-friendly trends in the business events industry. Various ‘green’ elements include a dedicated KME 2019 app, which will allow visitors to access event information and program schedules on their phones; PDF directory books will replace posters; and the use of reusable tumblers will be encouraged to reduce paper and plastic waste.
The event will also introduce new programmes such as Knowledge Hub and KME Pitching, which will offer start-ups and event participants the opportunity to pitch their content to buyers. A separate ‘Pitching Stage’ will be prepared within the event hall, where each group or individual will have 15 minutes to present their pitch, including time for Q&A.
