‘Privilege Penang’ offers subvention support and delegate experiences.
Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) introduced a new incentive programme, Privilege Penang, at IMEX Frankfurt last month, offering support for meeting, conference and incentive organisers to host their events in Penang.
The Privilege Penang programme has various tiers of benefits, according to delegate numbers, which include welcome receptions and luncheons with Penang’s famed delicacies, souvenirs, half-day guided tours and cultural performances, and financial support packages worth up to €20,000 (approx. US$22,670).
“Privilege Penang provides attractive and competitive support that the bureau is able to extend to planners,” said Ashwin Gunasekeran, CEO of PCEB.
“Penang has been performing well in recent years, and we are confident that the attractiveness of Penang as a destination, its competitive cost of hosting events and wide array of facilities will continue to pull in events.”
He added: “Privilege Penang is a commitment from the state to develop the Business Events sector in Penang.”
Qualifying events can also receive benefits from the bureau’s airline partner, Malaysia Airlines. These include discount rates for site inspection trips, hosting of speakers and hosted buyers, and special rates for Malaysia Airlines’ inflight advertising platform.
In 2018, Penang hosted more than 200 international meetings with 106,265 delegates from across the globe.
