In this episode of BEA CONVERSATIONS, we speak to Amelia Roziman, Acting CEO at the Sarawak Convention Bureau about a subject close to her heart: empowering girls in the rural areas of Sarawak to create their own success stories.
Speaking from personal experience, Roziman says education in the rural areas of Sarawak can be a luxury that not many are familiar with. Growing up, she realised that one of the only ways to overcome poverty was to equip herself with the necessary skills and knowledge to get where she wants to be. “You have to be a hustler,” she says.
Roziman shares some of the lessons she learnt being mentored, and how she is offering several underprivileged girls at the villages with the necessary assistance that will ease their burden so that they can stay in school.
She also provides examples of how the private sector can get involved, and welcomes the BEA Community to get in touch with her to discuss ways to pave the way for more women to succeed in the future.
