Come September 2017, Andaz by Hyatt will launch its first property in Southeast Asia with Andaz Singapore, offering a boutique-inspired lifestyle set in the eclectic districts of Kampong Glam and Bugis, and a unique take on its event spaces.
Famed architect, Andre Fu, and his design studio AFSO took inspiration from the hotel’s dynamic location, incorporating subtle, locally-inspired techniques and decorative details, reinterpreted into modern design elements that evoke a sense of discovery. The hotel will offer 342 guestrooms including 26 suites, featuring warm russet and mustard tones found in Indian and Malay handicrafts, and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Singapore skyline.
Alley on 3 offers 1,375 sq m of meeting spaces spread over four residential-style event venues linked by meandering alleyways. Located on level three, the events alley will be anchored by two large venues, each with a loft-style kitchen, ideal for pre-dinner cocktails or interactive breakouts.
The 583 sq m Glass House can cater for up to 320 guests in a banquet setting and features a glass-box event concept with floor-to-ceiling windows. The second venue that can accommodate 120 seated guests is inspired by a garden pavilion concept and features an adjoining outdoor terrace garden.
Alley on 25 will be an all-day dining venue that aims to recreate the fluid, spontaneous experience of Singapore street dining. Made up of seven alleyway ‘shophouses’, each venue with its unique décor and dining experience specialises in one cooking method, inspired by the traditional, single-product hawker stalls.
Commenting on bringing the Andaz brand to the local business events scene, Olivier Lenoir, General Manager of Andaz Singapore said, “Our aim is to capture the essence and showcase the spirit of our surrounding neighbourhoods and create soulful, intimate spaces that will evoke the diversity and energies of the alleyway experience and offer authentic, memorable experiences for our guests. Through design, unique event service and creative programmes, we will strive to be a good neighbour to the community and a magnetic anchor attracting locals as well as international guests.”
Lenoir will lead the opening of the property and manage all aspects of the pre-opening stages of development. In his new role, he will also be responsible for overseeing all property operations. The Swiss native began his career with Hyatt Hotels Corporation 17 years ago, with postings throughout Asia at Grand Hyatt Jakarta, Grand Hyatt Shenzhen and Grand Hyatt Taipei, and most recently served as the Hotel Manager at Grand Hyatt Singapore.
